I’ve got a new hobby.  Bonsai.  I have been buying and growing new plants for the past several months and have really enjoyed the art so far.  I’ve got a new bonsai blog called Southern Bonsai.  Check it out if your into bonsai or horticulture.  I’d love to hear your comments.

Some PC gaming articles

October 23rd, 2007

I wrote a small articles about free alternatives to World of Warcraft over at my PC gaming blog. Check it out if your looking for a free MMORPG or just another game to play when your bored. There are hundreds of free PC games out there that can be downloaded when your looking for something new. Another article I wrote gives a list of some of them, free multiplayer games. I’m currently hooked on Urban Terror, but also pick up Archlord every now and then. Probably going to be dabbling in Crysis as soon as that beta is released.

Many still can’t get to the new server

April 2nd, 2007

I know a lot of people still can’t get to the new forums because their ISP hasn’t updated to the new server address yet. If you visit MyHattiesburg.com and your still seeing the “My Hattiesburg is closed due to server maintenance” message, then your one of those people. It is possible to get to the new forums though. Just click the below link and it’ll take you to the new location. Be aware that you will not be able to login because it’s not the proper URL.

MH Server Move

March 30th, 2007

I am moving My Hattiesburg to a new server tonight. The move should take less than an hour, but it may take a while for your ISP to realize that MH is at a new location. For some, it’ll take under a hour. Others, it might take much longer. You can stay up-to-date by visiting this blog. Post a comment if your having problems.

Interesting articles roundup

February 17th, 2007

It’s been a while since my last post, so I thought I’d make this one a roundup of several good articles I’ve found over the past couple of weeks. Here you go:

Top Web Tools for College Students — Some of the best web apps for doing research, creating documents and presentations, and communicating with friends. A lot of these could be useful for everyone.

Recover your scratched CD’s — Apparently, toothpaste will do the trick. And like the Ajax of the 80’s, toothpaste will also clean cloudy drinking glasses.
Reduce computer eye-strain — Could be particularly useful if your an MH addict or just work around a computer all day long.

5 things to do when you can’t log on to MH — The article talks specifically about what you should do when your internet connection is out.

Host your own radio show — With BlogTalkRadio, you can host your own internet radio station for free.

Got a stubborn jar? — This YouTube video from the Rachel Ray show shows you how to open up those tight jar lids.

How to secure your wireless network — There’s been some discussion about this on the forums, so I decided to post this.

Some ideas for the next MH Party? — Several pictures of pranks pulled on people passed out.

Help with your New Year’s Resolutions

January 3rd, 2007

I’ve found some web sites that may help you stick to those New Year’s resolutions that we all have trouble with.  For those that have weight or eating goals, Fitday will help you keep up with your diet.  For those with financial goals, Wesabe will help you keep up with your money and save some of it at the same time.  Finally, probably one of my favorites is a web site with a very simple design and concept.  It just helps you keep up with any goal or tasks you may have.  It’s called Joe’s Goals.  I’ve already set it to try to remind me to work out at least three times a week.  For these and other suggestions, just check out the link below.

Save with Google Checkout

December 15th, 2006

Google has a new service where they are offering one centralized service for all your online shopping needs.  What does this mean?  One advantage is that you don’t have to fill out your customer information over and over again.  The second is that you can track and get receipts for all these orders in one place.  The third is the reason I made this post.  Right now, for all participating stores, you get $10 off of a $30 order automatically if you use Google Checkout.  All store coupons and discounts still will apply.  It’s free to sign up for it, so it’s free money.

Find a list of participating stores (there are a lot) and sign up at Google Checkout

Firefox 2.0

November 16th, 2006

I’ve blogged about IE7, it’s only fair that I blog about Firefox 2.0 also since it’s what I personally use to get around the web. Firefox is a web browser much like Internet Explorer with a few more features. It also has the capability to allow plugins (or addons) to be installed making your web browser customizable to your needs. You can download it at Mozilla.com. Here are some additional links to plugins that I use and like.

Tired of changing computers and not having your bookmarks, cookies, and history handy? Google’s Browser Sync addon can help with this. After you install it, you will log into you account. From that point on, your bookmarks, cookies, and history are saved, so that if you moved to another computer, it automatically downloads them to that one also. You can turn any one of these off so that they are not saved also, but if you move between computers at home and work, this addon can really save time.

Colorful Tabs changes the color of your tabs in Firefox to be more distinctive. It should allow you to quickly distinguish which tabs are which if you find yourself with a lot of tabs open all the time.

You can find a lot more addons to suit you at the Firefox Addons site.
